Water treatment begins at the pumping station. Pumps draw raw water from reservoirs, lakes, rivers, streams, or other underground sources. Water travels by pipeline from the pump to the filtration system through pipes. The second step is to remove solid particles from the water. In this step, the air is pumped into the water, causing the particles to float to the top. They are filtered out that way. The separation of water and unwanted particles is called water clarification. The next step is called water filtration. The next step is disinfectant. This is done with chlorine, mainly. Chlorine has been used to disinfect water for over 100 years. The next step is ozone. Ozone is super-charged oxygen that scrubs and cleans the water. This makes it way above the national standard for drinking water. For more information on water, keep watching the rest of this video.
