In this video, you will learn about best practices for cooling food. Coolers have come a long way in the last ten years. It makes a huge difference in how you pack a cooler.
Coolers work a lot better if they are pre-chilled. Cold air sinks, make sure you put frozen foods in the cooler first. A foam cooler is much cooler than a cooler that has a lot of open space in it. Immediately on top of the frozen food, goes your primary ice. Bigger chunks of ice are going to last lot longer. On top of the ice, put in things that you access on a more regular basis like milk, cheese, and snacks. Next, on top of your essentials layer, put some kind of insulated layers like an old sleeping mat or an insulated blanket. If you are drinking beer, the optimal temperature is 45 degrees. At this point, layer the last layer with the beer. You do not want it too cold, but you do want it to be a perfect temperature. Keep watching this video for more information.
